Saw-Whet Owl

Have you ever seen a saw-whet owl? I have, and they’re the cutest little gremlins you’ve ever seen! I carved this basswood owl at the actual life size of around 4” tall and then mounted it in the upside-down root of an azalea shrub that I killed. Even the rock on the base is hand carved.

If you look closely, there are tiny little oak leaves at the base of the tree. This piece won first prize in its category at the Fair in Marshfield, MA.
